About the Navodaya (JNVST) uploads

Navodaya registration is free and is done online through the NVS admission portal linked from navodaya.gov.in, on a phone or a computer. Keep these JPG files ready, each between 10 and 100 KB: the child's photograph, the child's signature, the parent's signature, and the Aadhaar details or a residence certificate issued by a government authority. SC, ST and OBC candidates also upload their category certificate as a JPG, and for OBC only a Central-list certificate counts. NVS fixes the file type and size but not a pixel size. Every JNV runs a free help desk where parents can bring the child, the photo, both signatures and a mobile phone for the OTP. On exam day the photo on the admit card is matched with the child at the centre, so use a recent picture.

Navodaya (JNVST) photo and signature size (2027 notice)

UploadSizeFile sizeFormatNotes
Photograph350 × 450 px*10–100 KBJPGOfficial (NVS prospectus for JNVST 2027): photograph in JPG, 10-100 KB. NVS sets no pixel size; 350 x 450 px is the standard 3.5 x 4.5 passport shape. The Class 9 lateral entry prospectus for 2027-28 sets the same JPG 10-100 KB rule. The admit card photo is matched with the child at the exam centre, so use a recent one.
Signature500 × 200 px*10–100 KBJPGOfficial: both the candidate's and the parent's signature are uploaded, each as a JPG of 10-100 KB, so make two files with this preset. NVS sets no pixel size; 500 x 200 px is a default wide enough to reach the 10 KB minimum.

*The notice fixes the KB range but not an exact pixel size, so the tool uses a suggested default that fits the range.

How to resize your Navodaya (JNVST) photo and signature

  1. The Navodaya (JNVST) size is already selected above. Switch between Photo, Signature at the top.
  2. Upload a clear photo from your phone, or a scan or photo of your signature on white paper.
  3. Drag and zoom so your face (or signature) fills the frame. Use Rotate if it is sideways.
  4. For the signature, keep Clean background on so the paper turns pure white and the ink stays dark.
  5. Press Download JPG. The result shows the exact pixel size and KB, within the Navodaya (JNVST) limits.

Tips so your Navodaya (JNVST) upload is not rejected

  • An old photo that no longer looks like the child: the invigilator matches the admit card photo with the candidate at the exam centre.
  • Uploading only one signature: the prospectus asks for both the candidate's and the parent's signature.
  • Files over 100 KB, or in PNG or PDF format: each upload must be a JPG between 10 and 100 KB.
  • Choosing OBC without a valid Central-list OBC certificate issued before registration: the candidature is cancelled, so apply as Unreserved instead.
  • Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background and even light on your face, with no cap or dark glasses.
  • Sign in black ink inside the space, and do not sign in capital letters unless the notice allows it.
  • Open the downloaded file once to check it looks sharp before you upload it to the portal.

Navodaya (JNVST) photo and signature FAQs

What is the photo size for Navodaya (JNVST)?

350 × 450 px, 10–100 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. The resizer above is already set to this size.

What is the signature size for Navodaya (JNVST)?

500 × 200 px, 10–100 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. Sign with a black pen on plain white paper and keep "Clean background" on.

Is the parent's signature the same size as the child's signature?

Yes. The prospectus lists the photograph, the parent's signature and the candidate's signature, all as JPG files between 10 and 100 KB. Choose Signature above, make and download the child's file, then upload the parent's signature and download again.

What is the photo and signature size for the Navodaya Class 9 form?

The Class 9 lateral entry prospectus for 2027-28 uses the same rule: photograph, parent's signature and candidate's signature as JPG files of 10 to 100 KB each. Its last date in the prospectus was 30 September 2026, and the test is on 10 April 2027.

Is there a fee for the Navodaya form?

No. The prospectus says registration is free of cost through the NVS admission portal, and the help desk at every JNV helps parents upload the form free of cost.

Can I take the Navodaya (JNVST) photo with my phone?

Yes. Stand facing a plain light wall in daylight, hold the phone at eye level and take a sharp, front-facing photo. Upload it here, drag and zoom so your face fills the frame, and the tool saves it at the exact pixel size and KB range.

How do I check the size of my file before uploading?

The result box under the preview shows the exact pixel size and file size in KB. On a phone you can also open the file details in the Files or Gallery app. On a computer, right-click the file and open Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).

What if my file is smaller than the minimum KB?

Small images can come out below the minimum even at full quality. This tool then adds a harmless comment block inside the JPG so the file reaches the minimum size, while the picture stays exactly the same.
