About the CSIR NET uploads
Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 is the science counterpart of UGC NET, held as a computer based test in five subjects: Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences and Bio-Technology; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences. You may apply in only one subject, and filling more than one form cancels all of them. The form asks for a live photograph, taken on your webcam or a phone, plus a scanned recent passport size photograph and your signature. Unlike UGC NET, this bulletin says the scanned photograph should be in colour, with 80% of the face, including ears and without a mask, against a white background. On exam day, the photo you uploaded and a photo taken at the centre both appear on your test screen, so tell the invigilator if they do not match.

CSIR NET photo and signature size (2026 notice)
| Upload | Size | File size | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 350 × 450 px* | 10–200 KB | JPG | Official: recent scanned passport size photograph in colour, with 80% of the face (including ears, without a mask) against a white background; JPG/JPEG, 10-200 KB. NTA sets no pixel size; 350 x 450 px is the standard 3.5 x 4.5 passport shape. A live photo is also captured in the form. An identity proof (only if not verifying through Aadhaar or DigiLocker) is also JPG/JPEG, 10-200 KB. |
| Signature | 500 × 200 px* | 10–50 KB | JPG | Official: JPG/JPEG, clearly legible, 10-50 KB. NTA sets no pixel size; 500 x 200 px is a default wide enough to reach the 10 KB minimum. |
*The notice fixes the KB range but not an exact pixel size, so the tool uses a suggested default that fits the range.

How to resize your CSIR NET photo and signature
- The CSIR NET size is already selected above. Switch between Photo, Signature at the top.
- Upload a clear photo from your phone, or a scan or photo of your signature on white paper.
- Drag and zoom so your face (or signature) fills the frame. Use Rotate if it is sideways.
- For the signature, keep Clean background on so the paper turns pure white and the ink stays dark.
- Press Download JPG. The result shows the exact pixel size and KB, within the CSIR NET limits.
Tips so your CSIR NET upload is not rejected
- Filling the form in more than one subject: all the forms are cancelled, and a candidate with more than one application number is treated as using Unfair Means.
- Uploading a black and white photo: the CSIR NET bulletin asks for a colour photograph.
- Bringing only one photo to the exam: you need two additional passport size photographs, the same as the one uploaded, for the admit card and the attendance sheet.
- Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background and even light on your face, with no cap or dark glasses.
- Sign in black ink inside the space, and do not sign in capital letters unless the notice allows it.
- Open the downloaded file once to check it looks sharp before you upload it to the portal.

CSIR NET photo and signature FAQs
What is the photo size for CSIR NET?
350 × 450 px, 10–200 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. The resizer above is already set to this size.
What is the signature size for CSIR NET?
500 × 200 px, 10–50 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. Sign with a black pen on plain white paper and keep "Clean background" on.
What is the last date for CSIR NET December 2026?
The normal last date is 05 November 2026 (up to 11:50 PM). Late submission with a late fee of Rs. 500 runs from 06 to 09 November 2026, and the correction window for submitted forms is 10 to 12 November 2026. The fee is Rs. 1,150 for General, Rs. 600 for Gen-EWS and OBC-NCL, and Rs. 325 for SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and third gender.
What can I change in the CSIR NET correction window?
Only the fields NTA enables for correction; the list of correctable fields is published on the website when the window goes live. It is a one-time facility, and no further changes are entertained at any stage after the window closes.
Can I take the CSIR NET photo with my phone?
Yes. Stand facing a plain light wall in daylight, hold the phone at eye level and take a sharp, front-facing photo. Upload it here, drag and zoom so your face fills the frame, and the tool saves it at the exact pixel size and KB range.
How do I check the size of my file before uploading?
The result box under the preview shows the exact pixel size and file size in KB. On a phone you can also open the file details in the Files or Gallery app. On a computer, right-click the file and open Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).
What if my file is smaller than the minimum KB?
Small images can come out below the minimum even at full quality. This tool then adds a harmless comment block inside the JPG so the file reaches the minimum size, while the picture stays exactly the same.
