About the NICL AO uploads
National Insurance is recruiting 321 Administrative Officers in Scale I: 200 Generalists and 121 Specialists across Finance (CA and CMA), Legal, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, Risk Engineering, Company Secretary and Agriculture. Most disciplines ask for a degree with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD), and you must be 21 to 30 years old on 01.10.2026. The online form needs four scans, so prepare them before you register: a recent colour passport-style photo, your signature in black ink, your left thumb impression in black or blue ink, and the declaration written in English in your own hand. You also capture a live photo on a webcam, or on your phone after scanning a QR code. The Phase I online exam is set for 17 November 2026 and Phase II for 22 December 2026, so the window to apply is short.

How to resize your NICL AO photo and signature

- Upload a clear photo from your phone, or a scan or photo of your signature on white paper.

Tips so your NICL AO upload is not rejected
- A declaration written by someone else, or in any language other than English, makes the application invalid.
- Putting the photo in the signature slot, or the signature in the photo slot, means you will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
- An unclear face, or a smudged signature, thumb impression or declaration, can get the application rejected, so check every image in the preview.
- No change of application data is permitted after you complete registration, so verify everything before you click Complete Registration.
- Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background and even light on your face, with no cap or dark glasses.
- Sign in black ink inside the space, and do not sign in capital letters unless the notice allows it.
- Open the downloaded file once to check it looks sharp before you upload it to the portal.

Can I re-upload an unclear NICL AO photo or thumb impression?

Will NICL check my photo again at the exam?
Yes. Your thumb impression, iris scan and photograph are captured on the day of the Phase II Main exam and verified later, and any inconsistency at any stage may lead to rejection. Wash off ink or mehndi from your fingers beforehand. At the exam and interview you also show the call letter with an original photo ID and a photocopy.
What is the NICL AO application fee?
Rs. 1000, including intimation charges and GST, for most candidates, and Rs. 250 (intimation charges only, with GST) for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Pay it online between 08 and 28 October 2026.
Can I take the NICL AO photo with my phone?

How do I check the size of my file before uploading?

What if my file is smaller than the minimum KB?
