1Pick a test
Each test opens full screen. Scrolling is paused until you tap Done or press your phone's Back button.
Draw test and dead zones
Swipe your finger over every square. Squares that stay white even after you swipe over them are dead zones.
Multi-touch test
Put several fingers down at once. Each finger gets a numbered circle, and we count how many your screen can track together.
Ghost touch test
After a 5-second countdown, put the phone down and don't touch it. Any touch the screen reports by itself is logged with its time and place.
Edge test
Run your finger along all four edges and into the corners, where cracks and curved glass often stop touches.
Remove a thick case or loose screen protector and dry your hands first. Touches are read by your browser on this phone and are never sent anywhere.

What this touch screen test does
A touch screen can fail slowly. First a corner needs two taps, then a letter on the keyboard stops typing, or apps start opening by themselves at night. This page gives you four quick checks that show exactly what the screen is reporting, so you can tell a real hardware problem from a software glitch before you spend money on a repair.
It runs in the browser on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and touch-screen laptops. There is no app to install and nothing is uploaded: the screen's touches are read by your browser on the device and stay there.
The four tests
| Test | What it finds | Time needed |
|---|---|---|
| Draw test | Dead zones: parts of the screen that ignore your finger | About 1 minute |
| Multi-touch | How many fingers the screen tracks at the same time | A few seconds |
| Ghost touch | Touches the screen reports while nobody is touching it | 30 seconds to 5 minutes |
| Edge test | Weak edges and corners, common after a fall or on curved glass | About 30 seconds |
How to run the touch screen test
- Take off a thick case and any loose or bubbled screen protector, and dry your hands. Moisture and loose protectors cause false results.
- Tap Start draw test. The page goes full screen and scrolling stops so your swipes don't move the page.
- Slowly swipe over every square, row by row. Each square turns green the moment the screen feels you.
- If a square stays white, swipe over it again a few times in different directions. A square that never turns green is a likely dead zone.
- Tap Done (or use your phone's Back gesture). The map on the right shows responding squares in green and the rest in pink.
- Run the other tests the same way, then tap Copy results to send the summary to a repair shop or the brand's support team.
The control bar at the top fades while you touch the screen so it doesn't block the squares under it. Lift your fingers and it comes back.
Understanding ghost touch
Ghost touch means the phone acts as if someone touched it: apps open, text appears, or the screen scrolls by itself. To test for it, start the ghost touch test, wait for the 5-second countdown and put the phone flat on a table. Don't touch it until the timer ends. With "Keep the screen on" ticked, the page asks the phone not to dim the display, where the browser supports it.
Every touch logged in that time is shown as a red dot with its time. One stray touch at the very start can be your hand leaving the screen, so run the test twice. Repeated touches in the same place point to a fault in that area of the display.
Common causes of ghost touch
- Charging: a damaged or poor-quality charger or cable can disturb the touch sensor. Test once while charging and once unplugged.
- Screen protector: a cracked, lifted or very thick protector, or dirt trapped under it, can press on the glass.
- Water and sweat: drops on the glass or moisture inside after rain can register as touches.
- Damage: a crack, a drop, or a swollen battery pushing on the display from behind. A bulging back or a screen lifting from the frame needs a service centre quickly.
- Software: a buggy app or update. If ghost touches stop in your phone's safe mode, an app is the likely culprit.
Reading the multi-touch and edge results
In the multi-touch test each finger gets a coloured, numbered circle. The Most counter keeps the highest number seen together. If the count jumps around while your fingers stay still, or circles appear where there is no finger, that is worth noting for the repair shop. The browser also reports how many touch points the device says it supports, shown under the results.
The edge test lights a ring of squares around the border. Swipe along all four sides and into each corner. Edges are where cracked glass, curved displays and tight cases most often cause trouble, and where keyboards, back gestures and notification shades live.
Touch screen test codes and built-in diagnostics
Many people search for a "touch screen test code". Some phones do have a hidden hardware test menu opened from the dialler. These codes differ by brand and model, and many makers have disabled them in newer software. Your phone maker's support or diagnostics app is the official route. This browser test works the same way on every phone, so results from two phones are easy to compare.
What to do if you find a problem
- Restart the phone and run the test again. Install pending system updates.
- Remove the screen protector and case, clean the glass with a dry microfibre cloth, and test again.
- Try a different charger, or test unplugged.
- If the same squares fail every time, or ghost touches keep appearing in one place, the display or its connector likely needs repair. Copy the results and share them with an authorised service centre, especially if the phone is under warranty.
Other phone tests
While you are checking your phone, try the mic test to record and play back your voice, the vibration test for the motor and the speaker water eject sound if the speaker sounds muffled after rain. Paired a keyboard with your tablet? The keyboard test checks every key. Find all of them on the phone and device tests page.

Frequently asked questions
How do I test my touch screen online?
Open this page on the phone, tap Start draw test and swipe over every square. Squares turn green when the screen feels your finger. If some squares stay white even after you swipe over them several times, that part of the screen is not responding.
Ghost touch kya hota hai?
Ghost touch ka matlab hai ki screen apne aap touch samajh leti hai, jabki aap use chhoo nahi rahe. Apps khud khulne lagte hain ya typing apne aap hone lagti hai. Ghost touch test chalakar phone ko neeche rakh dijiye: jo touch bina chhue record ho, wahi ghost touch hai.
How do I check for ghost touch on my phone?
Tap Start ghost touch test, wait for the 5-second countdown, then put the phone on a table and keep your hands away. Every touch the screen reports during the test is logged with its time and position. Zero touches means no ghost touch was seen in that time.
What is a dead zone on a touch screen?
A dead zone is a patch of the screen that does not register touches, often after a fall, a crack or water damage. In the draw test it shows as squares that stay white in the same place every time you swipe over them.
How many touch points does my phone support?
Run the multi-touch test and put down as many fingers as you can. The Most counter shows the highest number tracked at the same time. Many phones track 10 fingers, while some older or budget models track fewer.
Can a charger cause ghost touch?
It can. A faulty or poor-quality charger or cable can add electrical noise that confuses the touch sensor. If ghost touches happen only while charging, run the ghost test with and without the charger to compare, and try the original charger.
Is there a code to test the touch screen?
Some phones have a hidden hardware test menu. Codes differ by brand and model and are often disabled, so the safer route is the maker's support app or this browser test, which works on any phone.
Does the test work on iPhone and tablets?
Yes. It runs in Safari and Chrome on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android phones and tablets, as well as on touch-screen laptops. iPhones do not allow true full screen in the browser, so the test fills the window instead.
