Practice OMR sheets, made to fit your test
Students who will sit an exam with an OMR (optical mark recognition) answer sheet do better when they have practised filling one: finding the right row quickly, darkening a bubble fully, and not losing time. Schools, coaching institutes and tutors often hunt for a ready OMR sheet PDF, only to find one with the wrong number of questions, someone else's name printed at the top, or a watermark.
This OMR sheet generator makes the sheet you need. Pick 25, 50, 100, 150 or 200 questions with 4 or 5 options, label the bubbles A–D (or A–E) or 1–4 (or 1–5), and add your institute's name, the test name and date. The candidate block has lines for the name and signatures, roll-number bubbles from 4 to 10 digits and an optional set code. Below it come the instructions and a small "how to mark" guide showing a right and four wrong ways to fill a bubble. Everything is drawn as vector graphics on one A4 page, so printouts and photocopies stay crisp.
It's built for practice: class tests, weekly mock tests, olympiad and entrance-exam preparation, and quizzes. It's not the official sheet of any exam body, and real exams use their own sheets with their own rules, so always read the instructions on the actual answer sheet you are given.
How to make an OMR sheet
- Questions. Choose the number of questions and options, and whether bubbles show letters or numbers. Leave Columns on Auto, or set 2 to 5 columns yourself.
- Header. Type the name of your school, coaching centre or institute, the test name and, if you like, the date.
- Candidate details. Choose how many roll-number digits to print (or none) and whether to add a set code. Edit the lines to write on, such as Candidate's name, Class / Batch and the signatures, and the instructions, one per line.
- Look and answer key. Pick a bubble colour, keep or remove the black corner marks, and add an answer-key page if you want one.
- Download. Save the PDF, print it straight away, or save a PNG. Print on A4 at 100% (actual size).
Layouts at a glance
| Questions | Auto columns | Rows per column | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | 2 | 13 | Short class tests and quizzes |
| 50 | 2 | 25 | Unit tests, one-subject mocks |
| 100 | 4 | 25 | Full-length practice papers |
| 150 | 5 | 30 | Long mocks with several sections |
| 200 | 5 | 40 | Long multi-subject practice tests |
Every fifth row is shaded so the eye can't slip to the wrong question. With 200 questions and 5 options, bubbles are smaller; if your students find them tight, try 4 columns, or split the test across two sheets.
Filling an OMR sheet: tips to teach students
- Use the pen the sheet asks for. The default instructions say black or blue ballpoint; change them if your test uses pencil.
- Darken the whole bubble. A tick, cross, dot or half-filled bubble may not be read by a machine and can confuse a teacher marking by hand. The "how to mark" box on the sheet shows the difference.
- One bubble per question. Two marks in one row usually count as wrong or unattempted.
- Write and bubble the roll number. Write each digit in its box first, then fill the matching bubble in the column below it.
- Check the question number every few rows, especially after skipping a question. The shaded groups of five help.
- Keep the sheet flat and clean. No folds, rough work or stray marks.
Checking answers without a scanner
OMR scanners need special forms and software, which most classrooms don't have. Two simple ways help here:
- Answer-key overlay. Turn on the answer-key page and type the key, like
ABCDA BDCCA …or1-A, 2-C, 3-B. Page 2 prints the same sheet with the right bubbles filled. Punch out the filled bubbles and lay the key over a student's sheet: every mark you can see through a hole is right. - Check answers tab. Type the key and the student's marked answers in order (use - for a question left blank), set the marks for a right answer and any negative marking, and the tool shows the score, the percentage and a question-by-question grid of right, wrong and unattempted answers.
The checker works on what you type; it does not read photos of sheets, and it doesn't store any results.
Common questions from teachers
Can I make different sets? Yes. Turn on the set code, and give each set its own answer key. Make one key sheet per set and label it in the test name, for example "Mock 7, Set B".
Will it work with my OMR scanning software? That depends on the software. Many systems need their own template and calibrated forms. The corner marks on this sheet help with alignment, but test a few sheets with your software before a real exam.
Can I write the instructions in Hindi? Yes. Type your own instructions and line labels in English or Hindi; Hindi text appears correctly in the preview, the PNG and the PDF.
Making a register for your class too? The attendance sheet maker prints a monthly register with Sundays and holidays shaded, as a PDF or an Excel file that counts the totals.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make an OMR sheet for 100 questions?
Choose 100 under Number of questions, pick 4 or 5 options, and type your institute and test name. The sheet sets itself out in four columns of 25 on one A4 page. Download the PDF and print as many copies as you need.
Can I add roll-number bubbles and a set code?
Yes. Pick from 4 to 10 roll-number digits; each digit gets a box to write in and a column of bubbles from 0 to 9. You can also add a test booklet or set code with A–B, A–C or A–D bubbles, or turn either off.
Can the options be numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 instead of A, B, C, D?
Yes. Choose '1 2 3 4' under Bubble labels. Many entrance-exam practice papers number the options, so this matches what students will see in a NEET-style or JEE-style practice test. The sheet is still a practice sheet, not an official one.
How do I print an OMR sheet at the right size?
Open the PDF and print on A4 paper at 100% or 'Actual size', not 'Fit to page', so the bubbles keep their size. The PDF is vector, so bubbles and text stay sharp on any printer and in photocopies.
Can this tool check answers or scan filled OMR sheets?
It can't scan sheets with a camera. The Check answers tab lets you type the answer key and the answers a student marked, then gives the score with your marking scheme (for example +4 for right and −1 for wrong), and shows which questions were right, wrong or left blank.
What is the answer-key sheet?
Turn on 'Add an answer-key sheet' and type the key. Page 2 is the same sheet with the right bubbles filled in black. Because the layout is identical, a teacher can punch out the filled bubbles and lay it over a student's sheet to check it quickly.
Is the OMR sheet free to use for my coaching centre?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit, and you can put your own institute's name on it. Nothing is uploaded: the sheet is made in your browser.
