One tool for the NOCs people actually ask for

"Please bring an NOC" is one of the most common requests in Indian paperwork. An employee needs one from their company to travel abroad or join a course. A business owner needs one from the property owner to register for GST. A tenant needs one from the landlord for an electricity connection. A school asks parents to sign one before a trip. The letters are short, but they need the right details in the right order, and they must be signed by the person who is giving the consent.

This tool covers nine NOCs in three groups, in English and Hindi:

FromNOC for
An employerTravel or visa, higher studies, applying for another post
A property ownerGST registration (consent letter), address proof for a tenant, electricity, water or gas connection
OthersParent's consent for a school trip, seller's NOC for a vehicle sale, housing society NOC

How to use the NOC letter generator

  1. Choose who is issuing it and the purpose. Pick the group, then the NOC, then English or हिन्दी.
  2. Fill in the details. The form shows only the fields that NOC needs: employee and dates for an employer NOC, owner and premises for a property NOC, and so on.
  3. Check the letter. It appears on an A4 page as you type. Empty required details show as yellow placeholders; tap one to jump to its field.
  4. Letterhead, signature and stamp. Employers and societies can turn on a letterhead with a logo. Anyone can add a signature or stamp image, or sign the printout by hand.
  5. Download. PDF, Word, print, copy text or email.

NOC for GST registration: what CBIC asks for

When you apply for GST registration, you must show proof of your principal place of business. CBIC's Instruction No. 03/2025-GST of 17 April 2025 tells officers what to accept:

  • Own premises: one document such as the latest property tax receipt, municipal khata copy or electricity bill of the owner (or a similar document such as a water bill).
  • Rented premises: the rent or lease agreement with one ownership document of the lessor; if the agreement is not registered, also the lessor's identity proof.
  • Premises owned by someone else, such as a spouse or relative: a consent letter on plain paper from the owner, a copy of the owner's identity proof and one ownership document.

The instruction also says no additional documents should be sought beyond these. The GST consent letter in this tool is written for the third case. It names the owner and the premises, gives consent for the business to use the address as its principal or additional place of business, says whether rent is charged, and lists the identity proof and the ownership document you choose as enclosures.

Employer NOCs

The travel NOC confirms the employee's designation and service, the dates of approved leave, the destination and the date they will resume duty (worked out as the day after the trip, which you can change). Optional lines add the passport number, monthly salary and who pays for the trip, which some visa applications ask for. The higher studies NOC names the course and institute and adds a sensible condition for part-time and online courses. The third NOC is for an employee applying for another post. Government and PSU employees applying for a passport should use the formats prescribed on the Passport Seva website instead.

Landlord, parent, vehicle and society NOCs

  • Address proof: the owner confirms the tenant has lived there since a date and has no objection to the address being used as proof. Many offices have their own list of accepted proofs, so check it first.
  • Utility connection: for a new electricity, water or piped gas connection in the tenant's name, or a transfer of the existing one. It states that the connection gives no right of ownership.
  • School trip: the parent's consent to the principal, with class, destination, dates, fee and an emergency number.
  • Vehicle sale: the seller's letter with registration, chassis and engine numbers, buyer, date and time of handover, price in figures and words, and loan status. The transfer itself is applied for at the RTO with Forms 29 and 30, with the financier's consent if there is a loan (example: Puducherry Transport Department).
  • Housing society: signed by the secretary, for a member selling, letting or mortgaging their flat, with an optional no-dues line.

Tips

  • The NOC must come from the person or organisation that has the right to object: the owner, the employer, the parent, the society.
  • Match names and addresses exactly with ID proofs and property documents.
  • Date the letter on the day it is signed, and keep a copy.
  • These are formats, not legal advice. Some offices want a notarised NOC or an affidavit on stamp paper; check with the office or a notary before you submit.

Nothing you type is uploaded, and there is no sign-up or watermark.

Frequently asked questions

What is an NOC letter?

A no objection certificate is a short letter in which a person or organisation states that they have no objection to something: an employee travelling or studying, a business using a property address, a tenant getting a utility connection, a student going on a trip. It is signed by the person or authority giving the consent.

What documents go with an owner's NOC for GST registration?

CBIC's Instruction No. 03/2025-GST says that where the premises belong to someone else, such as a spouse or relative, a consent letter on plain paper from the owner, a copy of the owner's identity proof and one document showing the owner's ownership (such as the latest property tax receipt, municipal khata copy or electricity bill) should suffice. Rented premises need the rent or lease agreement instead.

Does an NOC need stamp paper or notarisation?

Most NOCs in this tool are plain letters. The GST consent letter is on plain paper as per CBIC's instruction. Some offices ask for a notarised NOC or an affidavit for other purposes, so check what the office receiving it asks for.

Will a landlord's NOC work as address proof everywhere?

Not always. Many offices and banks have their own list of accepted address proofs and may ask for a registered rent agreement or other documents. Check the list of the office you are applying to before relying on an NOC.

Is the vehicle sale NOC enough to transfer ownership?

No. Transfer of ownership is applied for at the RTO, usually online on the Parivahan portal, with the prescribed forms (Forms 29 and 30), and the financier's consent if the vehicle has a loan. The seller's NOC is a supporting letter only.

Can government employees use the employer NOC for a passport?

Government and PSU employees should use the identity certificate, NOC or prior intimation formats prescribed on the Passport Seva website. The employer NOC here suits private-sector travel, visa and study purposes.

Can I write the NOC in Hindi?

Yes. Choose हिन्दी. Headings become अनापत्ति प्रमाण पत्र or सहमति पत्र, and the verbs follow the gender you choose for the owner, parent or employee.
