About the JEE Main uploads
JEE (Main) has two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech admissions at NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutions, which also decides eligibility for JEE (Advanced), and Paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Planning. It is held in two sessions, January and April, and one application number serves both; for April you log in with that number and pay the Session 2 fee. During the form a live picture is taken through your webcam (a phone can step in via the QR code on the page), after which you upload a scanned colour photo on a white background, your signature and your Class 10 certificate as a PDF. An ID proof image is needed only if you verify identity through something other than Aadhaar or DigiLocker. On exam day your photo appears on the computer's welcome screen, and the invigilator cross-checks your admit card, signature and photo.

JEE Main photo and signature size (2025 notice)
| Upload | Size | File size | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 350 × 450 px* | 10–200 KB | JPG | Official (JEE Main 2026 bulletin): recent passport size colour photo, white background, 80% face (without mask) visible including ears, JPG 10-200 KB. NTA sets no pixel size; 350 x 450 px is the standard passport shape. A live photo is also captured in the form. |
| Signature | 500 × 200 px* | 10–100 KB | JPG | Official (JEE Main 2026 bulletin): JPG, 10-100 KB, clearly legible. NTA sets no pixel size; 500 x 200 px is a default wide enough to reach the 10 KB minimum. |
*The notice fixes the KB range but not an exact pixel size, so the tool uses a suggested default that fits the range.

How to resize your JEE Main photo and signature
- The JEE Main size is already selected above. Switch between Photo, Signature at the top.
- Upload a clear photo from your phone, or a scan or photo of your signature on white paper.
- Drag and zoom so your face (or signature) fills the frame. Use Rotate if it is sideways.
- For the signature, keep Clean background on so the paper turns pure white and the ink stays dark.
- Press Download JPG. The result shows the exact pixel size and KB, within the JEE Main limits.
Tips so your JEE Main upload is not rejected
- In the 2026 Session 1 correction window the photograph was on the list of fields candidates could not change, while the signature could be changed, so get the photo right first.
- Filling more than one application form is not allowed; NTA treats it as Unfair Means and it leads to cancellation of the result.
- Using another person's photograph or signature, or tampering with the admit card or scorecard, is handled as Unfair Means under the bulletin.
- Carry one passport photo identical to the uploaded one for the attendance sheet; candidates without the required documents are not allowed to take the exam.
- Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background and even light on your face, with no cap or dark glasses.
- Sign in black ink inside the space, and do not sign in capital letters unless the notice allows it.
- Open the downloaded file once to check it looks sharp before you upload it to the portal.

JEE Main photo and signature FAQs
What is the photo size for JEE Main?
350 × 450 px, 10–200 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. The resizer above is already set to this size.
What is the signature size for JEE Main?
500 × 200 px, 10–100 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. Sign with a black pen on plain white paper and keep "Clean background" on.
Could I change my photo in the JEE (Main) correction window?
Not in the 2026 cycle. NTA's correction notice of 20 November 2025 for Session 1 put the photograph under fields candidates were not allowed to change, while the signature could be changed (with any extra fee charged). It was a one-time chance: once the corrections were submitted, the form was frozen.
My live photo did not match because I used an ID other than Aadhaar. What happens?
In January 2026 NTA gave such candidates a chance to upload a signed and attested certificate with a recent photograph certified by their school or college Principal or Headmaster, or by a Class-I Gazetted Officer such as a Tehsildar, SDM or DM. A printed copy also had to be shown at the exam centre for physical verification.
Do I fill a new form for the April session?
No. If you applied for January, you use the same application number, log in when the Session 2 window opens and pay the fee for that session. If you skipped Session 1, you can register when the Session 2 form is open. NTA does not accept more than one application from a candidate.
Can I take the JEE Main photo with my phone?
Yes. Stand facing a plain light wall in daylight, hold the phone at eye level and take a sharp, front-facing photo. Upload it here, drag and zoom so your face fills the frame, and the tool saves it at the exact pixel size and KB range.
How do I check the size of my file before uploading?
The result box under the preview shows the exact pixel size and file size in KB. On a phone you can also open the file details in the Files or Gallery app. On a computer, right-click the file and open Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).
What if my file is smaller than the minimum KB?
Small images can come out below the minimum even at full quality. This tool then adds a harmless comment block inside the JPG so the file reaches the minimum size, while the picture stays exactly the same.
