About the NEET UG uploads

NEET (UG) is the entrance test NTA conducts for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS and BHMS courses, and its form collects a long list of images. Inside the application you first capture a live photo with your webcam or phone (Step 14), then upload a passport-size photo, your signature and impressions of the fingers and thumbs of both hands (Step 15), before fee payment. The 2026 bulletin wanted the photo taken on or after 1 January 2026; it could be colour or black and white, but on a white background with ears visible. Plan your prints too. NTA asks you to keep 6-8 passport-size and 4-6 postcard-size (4 x 6 inch) colour copies of the same photo, because the passport photo goes on your admit card and attendance sheet and is used again at counselling, while a postcard print is pasted on a proforma at the centre.

NTA sets no pixel size; 350 x 450 px is the standard 3.5 x 4.5 passport shape. The 2026 bulletin required the photo to be taken after 1 January 2026. A live photo is also captured in the form.

How to resize your NEET UG photo and signature

  1. The NEET UG size is already selected above. Switch between Photo, Signature at the top.
  2. Upload a clear photo from your phone, or a scan or photo of your signature on white paper.
  3. Drag and zoom so your face (or signature) fills the frame. Use Rotate if it is sideways.
  4. For the signature, keep Clean background on so the paper turns pure white and the ink stays dark.
  5. Press Download JPG. The result shows the exact pixel size and KB, within the NEET UG limits.

Tips so your NEET UG upload is not rejected

  • Uploading someone else's photograph is treated as Unfair Means: the candidature is cancelled and NTA says criminal action may also be started.
  • Polaroid, computer-generated or fabricated (de-shaped or hand-made) photos are not accepted, and forms with unclear photos, or with no photo, are liable to be rejected.
  • Unclear left- and right-hand finger and thumb impressions are also rejected, so check that every print in the scan is sharp before you upload it.
  • The 2026 correction window (12-14 March) let candidates change their signature but not their photograph, so upload the right photo the first time.
  • Use a recent colour photo with a plain light background and even light on your face, with no cap or dark glasses.
  • Sign in black ink inside the space, and do not sign in capital letters unless the notice allows it.
  • Open the downloaded file once to check it looks sharp before you upload it to the portal.

NEET UG photo and signature FAQs

What is the photo size for NEET UG?

350 × 450 px, 10–200 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. The resizer above is already set to this size.

What is the signature size for NEET UG?

500 × 200 px, 10–100 KB, JPG. The notice fixes only the KB range, so the pixel size is our suggested default. Sign with a black pen on plain white paper and keep "Clean background" on.

Which photos do I need on NEET (UG) exam day?

Paste a passport-size photo (the same one you uploaded) on the printed admit card and carry one more for the attendance sheet. You also need a postcard-size (4 x 6 inch) colour photo with a white background, pasted on the proforma downloaded with the admit card, plus an original, valid photo ID. Candidates without these documents are not allowed to sit the exam.

Can my NEET (UG) photo be black and white?

For the upload, yes. The 2026 bulletin allowed a colour or black and white photo, taken on or after 1 January 2026, with 80% of the image being your face (ears visible, no mask) on a white background. The extra prints NTA asks you to keep are colour ones, so using one colour photo for everything is simpler.

Why does NTA want me to keep so many prints of my NEET (UG) photo?

The bulletin wants the same photograph used for every NEET (UG) document and purpose: the upload, the admit card and attendance sheet at the exam, and later counselling and admission. It also lists identical copies of the uploaded passport and postcard photos among the things you must keep for future correspondence, so order enough prints from the same file.

Can I take the NEET UG photo with my phone?

Yes. Stand facing a plain light wall in daylight, hold the phone at eye level and take a sharp, front-facing photo. Upload it here, drag and zoom so your face fills the frame, and the tool saves it at the exact pixel size and KB range.

How do I check the size of my file before uploading?

The result box under the preview shows the exact pixel size and file size in KB. On a phone you can also open the file details in the Files or Gallery app. On a computer, right-click the file and open Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).

What if my file is smaller than the minimum KB?

Small images can come out below the minimum even at full quality. This tool then adds a harmless comment block inside the JPG so the file reaches the minimum size, while the picture stays exactly the same.
