About the SSC JE uploads
You will not need a photo file for the SSC Junior Engineer Examination 2026. The exam recruits Junior Engineers (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) for central bodies such as CPWD, MES, the Border Roads Organisation and the Central Water Commission, plus Scientific Assistants for IMD, all Group B posts in Level-6. Instead of uploading a picture, the application module takes a real-time photo through your camera while you fill the form, so find good light and a plain background, keep the camera at eye level, and remove any cap, mask or spectacles. The only image you upload is a scanned signature. Everything starts with One-Time Registration on ssc.gov.in; an OTR made on the old ssc.nic.in site does not work. If you opt for Aadhaar-based authentication, the form is not rejected over photo or signature quality.

SSC JE signature size (2026 notice)
| Upload | Size | File size | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Signature | 472 × 157 px | 10–20 KB | JPG | Official: scanned signature in JPEG/JPG, 10-20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide x 2.0 cm high; blurred or miniature signatures are rejected (not applied to Aadhaar-authenticated applications). Converted at 200 DPI: 6.0 / 2.54 x 200 = 472 px, 2.0 / 2.54 x 200 = 157 px. The JE 2026 notice gives only this size, as does the Stenographer 2026 notice; the CGL, CHSL and CAPF SI 2026 notices still also print 4.0 x 2.0 cm in one place. No photo upload: the photo is captured live. |

How to resize your SSC JE signature
- The SSC JE size is already selected above.
- Upload a scan or clear phone photo of your signature on white paper.
- Drag and zoom so your signature fills the frame. Use Rotate if it is sideways.
- For the signature, keep Clean background on so the paper turns pure white and the ink stays dark.
- Press Download JPG. The result shows the exact pixel size and KB, within the SSC JE limits.
Tips so your SSC JE upload is not rejected
- Capturing a photo of an existing printed photograph instead of yourself gets the form rejected summarily, unless you applied through Aadhaar-based authentication.
- A live photo with a cap, mask or spectacles, or with part of your face outside the marked camera area, is liable to be rejected.
- Blurred or miniature signatures that do not meet the requirement lead to summary rejection for applicants who have not used Aadhaar-based authentication.
- Applying with the same photograph but a different name, parents' names or date of birth in different recruitments is listed as malpractice, leading to cancellation and debarment.
- Sign in black ink inside the space, and do not sign in capital letters unless the notice allows it.
- Open the downloaded file once to check it looks sharp before you upload it to the portal.

SSC JE signature FAQs
What is the signature size for SSC JE?
472 × 157 px, 10–20 KB, JPG, as given in the official notice. Sign with a black pen on plain white paper and keep "Clean background" on.
What does Aadhaar-based authentication change for SSC JE?
Your form will not be rejected because the photograph or signature is not as per the prescribed standards, and at the exam venue you will not have to produce recent colour photographs or an original photo ID. Without it, you must upload proofs of name, date of birth, address and gender, and a photograph, to complete your OTR.
What do I carry to the exam if I am not Aadhaar authenticated?
Report two hours before the exam starts. Along with the Admission Certificate printout, you must carry at least two recent passport-size colour photographs and an original photo ID showing the same date of birth as the Admission Certificate, such as a Voter ID, driving licence, PAN card or passport. Without these you will not be allowed entry.
Can I correct my form after the last date?
Yes, during the correction window from 28.09.2026 to 30.09.2026. You can correct and resubmit up to two times, paying Rs 200 the first time and Rs 500 the second, whatever your category. The latest form is treated as valid, and no change is allowed after the window closes.
Why is there no photo upload for SSC JE?
The SSC JE notice says the candidate's photograph is captured live during the application or exam process, so only the signature needs to be uploaded. Follow the instructions on the official portal for the live photo.
How do I check the size of my file before uploading?
The result box under the preview shows the exact pixel size and file size in KB. On a phone you can also open the file details in the Files or Gallery app. On a computer, right-click the file and open Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).
What if my file is smaller than the minimum KB?
Small images can come out below the minimum even at full quality. This tool then adds a harmless comment block inside the JPG so the file reaches the minimum size, while the picture stays exactly the same.
