A visiting card you can print today

A visiting card (also called a business card) is still the quickest way to leave your name and number with a customer. A good card is easy to read, carries the right details and looks like it belongs to your business.

This visiting card maker gives you seven ready designs, each with a matching front and back. You type your details once, see both sides update as you type, and download files that are ready for a home printer or a printing shop. Everything happens inside your browser. Your phone number, address and logo are never uploaded, and there is no watermark on any file.

How to make your visiting card

  1. Optionally tap a sample (doctor, advocate, CA, shop, teacher or freelancer). It fills a sample designation, tagline and design that you then change to your own.
  2. Type your name, designation and business name. Add a short tagline if you like, such as "Wiring, fans and lighting since 1998".
  3. Add one or two phone numbers. Ten-digit mobile numbers are shown as +91 98765 43210; choose "None" in the code box if you don't want the +91.
  4. Fill in your email, website and address. Leave any of them blank and the card simply leaves that line out.
  5. Upload your logo if you have one; without one, the card shows your initials in a neat badge. You can also add a photo, shown in a circle on the front, which suits doctors, agents and consultants.
  6. Pick a template, then a colour set, or choose your own main and second colours. Choose a font: modern, classic serif or simple sans.
  7. Choose the card size: 3.5 × 2 inches or 85 × 55 mm.
  8. Decide what the QR code on the back should do: save your contact, open your website, take a UPI payment, or no QR at all.
  9. Download the A4 print sheet, the print-shop PDF or the front and back PNGs.

Card sizes and the files you get

Most printers in India cut visiting cards to 3.5 × 2 inches. In millimetres that is 88.9 × 50.8 mm, because an inch is exactly 25.4 mm. The 85 × 55 mm size is common for European-style cards and is offered by many printers too. Confirm the size with your printer before you send a file.

What is bleed? If your card has a coloured edge, the printer needs a little extra background beyond the cut line, so that no thin white strip shows if the cut is slightly off. Many print shops ask for 3 mm of bleed, which is what the print-shop PDF includes. If your printer asks for a different bleed, tell them the trim size is 88.9 × 50.8 mm (or 85 × 55 mm).

The QR code on the back

  • Save my contact stores a vCard, the standard contact format described in IETF RFC 2426. When someone scans it, their phone offers to save your name, phone numbers, email, website and business name together, with no typing. Your address is left out to keep the code small and easy to scan.
  • Website opens your site or online store directly.
  • UPI payment makes a standard upi://pay link with your UPI ID and business name, so customers can pay with any UPI app and type the amount themselves. Test it with a small payment from another phone before printing.

The QR is printed in near-black on a white box, which is the most reliable combination for phone cameras. Add a short line under it, such as "Scan to save my number", so people know what it does.

Printing at home: step by step

  1. Use card paper your printer can feed (check its manual). Open the A4 sheet PDF and print page 1 on plain paper first. Hold it against page 2 printed on the back, up to a light, to check the fronts and backs line up.
  2. Print with the scale set to Actual size or 100%. "Fit to page" shrinks the cards and the size will be wrong.
  3. Print double-sided with flip on long edge. If your printer has no duplex, print page 1, put the sheet back in the tray the right way round, and print page 2.
  4. Cut along the crop marks with a paper trimmer or a steel ruler and a sharp cutter. A trimmer gives much straighter edges than scissors.

What to ask a local printer

Prices and options differ from shop to shop and city to city, so ask before you order:

  • Paper thickness (GSM): which card weights they stock. A higher GSM number means thicker, stiffer card. Ask to feel a sample.
  • Finish: matte (soft look, easy to write on), gloss (brighter colours) or lamination (more durable).
  • File format: whether they want PDF with bleed, PNG or something else, and whether they need crop marks.
  • Proof: ask for a printed or digital proof before the full run, and check every number on it.

Tips for a card that works

  • Keep it short. Name, designation, one or two phone numbers, email, website and a short address are enough.
  • Check every digit. One wrong number in a phone or UPI ID makes the whole batch useless. Call the number and scan the QR from the downloaded PNG before printing.
  • Use a clear logo or photo. A PNG logo with a transparent background looks cleanest; for a photo, use a sharp head-and-shoulders shot with a plain background.
  • Mind the contrast. Light text on a light colour is hard to read in a dim shop. If you pick custom colours, make sure your name still stands out.
  • Check your profession's rules. Some professional bodies have rules on what members may print on cards. If you are a doctor, advocate or chartered accountant, check your council's guidance before adding claims or titles.
  • Print a few first. Try ten cards at home before ordering a large batch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the standard visiting card size in India?

The size most Indian printers use is 3.5 × 2 inches, which is 88.9 × 50.8 mm. Some printers and many European designs use 85 × 55 mm instead. This tool offers both, so ask your printer which one they cut to before you download.

Can I download my visiting card without a watermark or login?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no login and no watermark on the PNGs or PDFs, and no limit on how many cards you make. The card is drawn in your browser, so your details, logo and photo are never uploaded to a server.

Can I print visiting cards at home from the A4 PDF?

Yes. The A4 sheet has 10 cards on the front page and 10 matching backs on the second page, with crop marks. Print at Actual size (100%), double-sided with long-edge flip, on thick card paper your printer can feed. Cut along the crop marks with a paper trimmer for straight edges.

What file should I give to a printing shop?

Give them the print-shop PDF. It has one card per page, front and back, with 3 mm of extra background (bleed) on every side so no white edge shows after cutting. Ask the shop if they need a different bleed or file format; the 300 DPI PNGs are there if they ask for images.

What does the QR code on the back do?

You choose. 'Save my contact' holds a vCard, so scanning it lets a phone save your name, numbers, email, website and business in one tap. You can also link the QR to your website or to a UPI payment request for your UPI ID. Scan the printed card with two different phones before ordering a big batch.

Can I write my name in Hindi or another Indian language?

Yes. Type in any language and the card is drawn with the fonts on your device, which on most phones and computers include Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil and other scripts. Check the preview; if a script shows boxes, try another device.

What is the visiting card size in pixels?

At 300 DPI, which printers usually ask for, a 3.5 × 2 inch card (88.9 × 50.8 mm) is 1050 × 600 pixels, and that is exactly the size of the PNGs this tool gives you. An 85 × 55 mm card is about 1004 × 650 pixels at 300 DPI. Add 3 mm of bleed on each side if your printer asks for it.

Can I make a visiting card on my mobile?

Yes. The maker works in the browser on Android phones and iPhones, with no app to install. Type your details, check the front and back preview, and download the PNGs or PDFs to your phone, then send them to your printer on WhatsApp or email.
