A contact you can save in one scan

When you hand someone a visiting card, they usually put it in a pocket and lose it, or they type your number into their phone and get one digit wrong. A vCard QR code solves both problems. They scan it, their phone shows your name, mobile number, email, company and address already filled in, and they tap Save. Your contact goes into their phone book correctly, with the +91 country code.

The code holds a vCard, the contact card format that phones use when they import or share contacts. This tool writes version 3.0, which is widely supported, and looks like this inside:

BEGIN:VCARD · VERSION:3.0 · N:Sharma;Priya · FN:Priya Sharma · ORG:Sharma Interiors · TEL;TYPE=CELL:+919876543210 · EMAIL:… · END:VCARD

You do not need to type any of that. Fill in the form and the tool builds the card, escaping commas and semicolons in names or addresses so they do not break the format.

Who uses a contact QR code

  • Sales staff and agents: insurance advisors, property dealers and car sales staff who meet many people at site visits and events.
  • Doctors and clinics: on the reception desk, so patients can save the clinic number for appointments.
  • Freelancers and tutors: on a flyer or a society notice board, so parents save the number instead of photographing the paper.
  • Shop owners: on the bill or carry bag, so customers can call back for home delivery.
  • Event stalls: a stand card at an exhibition booth, so visitors save your contact while the queue moves.

Which details to include

Only fill in what you want people to keep. A name and a mobile number are enough for many people; add an email, company and job title for work use. The address is useful for a clinic or shop and less useful for a salesperson who travels.

Remember that every field adds text to the code, and more text means smaller dots. A card with all the fields still scans well at a normal visiting card size, but if you also add a large centre logo and print it very small, older phones may struggle. Test a printed proof first.

Putting it on a visiting card

  1. Switch the preview to "QR only".
  2. Download the SVG for your printer, or the 1200 px PNG if they ask for an image.
  3. Ask for the code to be printed in black or a dark colour on a white area, at least about 2 cm wide, with a clear white border around it.
  4. Scan the printed proof with two phones before approving the full order.

For a counter or desk, use the "stand" or "tent" design instead. It shows "Scan to save my contact" with your name and number under the code, so people who cannot scan can still read the number.

Keep it up to date

Once a card is saved, the details stay on the other person's phone as they were. If you change your number, they will not get the update automatically. Make a new code when your details change, and tell your regular contacts about the new number as well.

Frequently asked questions

What is a vCard QR code?

A vCard is the standard digital contact card format that phones use to import contacts. A vCard QR code holds that card, so when someone scans it, their phone shows a 'Create contact' or 'Add to contacts' option with your details already filled in.

Can I put the vCard QR on my visiting card?

Yes. Download the QR-only PNG at 1200 px or the SVG and give it to your printer. Keep it at least about 2 cm wide on the card, with a white border around it, and test a printed proof before ordering a full box.

Will the contact save with +91?

Yes. The mobile number is stored with the country code, +91 by default, so it dials correctly from any phone, including from outside India. You can pick another country code from the list.

Why is my contact QR code very dense?

Every field you fill adds text, and more text means smaller dots. If the code looks crowded, leave out the address or website, or remove the centre logo, so it scans easily even when printed small.

Does the vCard QR need internet to work?

No. All the details are inside the code itself, so the person scanning can save your contact even without mobile data. Only the website link, if you add one, needs internet when they open it later.
