Open a chat in one tap, no contact needed

You need to send a location to the delivery rider, a photo to the plumber, or a question to someone selling a second-hand cycle. Saving each of these numbers fills your contacts with names like "Courier Ramesh" that you will never use again. This page skips that step. Type the number, add a message if you like, and tap Open chat in WhatsApp.

It works through WhatsApp's own click-to-chat link, described in the WhatsApp Help Center. The link has the form wa.me/ followed by the full number with its country code. When you open it, WhatsApp shows a chat with that number, whether or not it is in your contacts.

How to use it

  1. Leave the country code on +91 for an Indian number, or pick another country.
  2. Type or paste the number. Spaces, dashes, a leading 0 or a +91 at the start are cleaned up for you.
  3. Optionally type a first message, such as "Hi, I am calling about the flat on rent". You can still edit it inside WhatsApp.
  4. Tap Open chat in WhatsApp. The chat opens in the app on a phone, or in WhatsApp Web or the desktop app on a computer.

The chat preview on the right shows how your message will look. The tool keeps your last number and message in this browser only, so you can reopen the chat later; clear the box when you are done.

Handy situations

  • Deliveries: send your live location or gate code to a rider who called from an unknown number.
  • Online listings: ask a seller for more photos before you visit, without saving every seller.
  • Service visits: share a photo of the leaking tap or broken switch with the plumber or electrician.
  • Office and school: reply to a one-time contact, such as a parent of a classmate or a vendor's sales person.
  • Your own second number: send yourself notes or files from a computer to a phone.

A few cautions

Opening a chat does not check who is on the other side. Be careful with numbers that come from unknown messages or ads. Never share an OTP, your UPI PIN or bank details in a chat, and remember that receiving money never needs your PIN. If someone tries to cheat you, report it on the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or at cybercrime.gov.in.

The link opens one chat at a time, and you press Send yourself. Sending the same message to many people who have not saved your number can lead them to block or report you, so keep this for normal one-to-one conversations.

Running a business?

If you want customers to message you without saving your number, make a permanent link and QR code instead. The full WhatsApp link generator adds a ready message, printable posters and a chat button for your website.

This tool is independent and not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta. It runs in your browser and does not send your number anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is the number saved anywhere when I use this?

Not in your phone's contacts. To save you retyping, the last number and message stay in this browser's storage on your own device; nothing is sent to our server. Clear the box, or your browser's site data, if you do not want it kept.

Will the other person know I did not save their number?

The chat opens in WhatsApp in the normal way and your message arrives like any other. What they see about you, such as your profile photo or name, depends on your own WhatsApp privacy settings, not on how you opened the chat.

Why does WhatsApp say the number is not on WhatsApp?

Check the country code and the digits first. Indian mobile numbers have 10 digits after +91, without a leading 0. If the number is right, that person may not use WhatsApp on that number.

Does this work on iPhone and on a computer?

Yes. On a phone, the link opens the WhatsApp app. On a computer, it opens a WhatsApp page that hands over to WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, where you need to be logged in.

Can I send a message to many numbers at once this way?

No. Each link opens one chat, and you still press Send yourself. Sending the same message to many people who have not saved your number can get your account reported, so use this for one-to-one chats.
