2Converted text
Krutidev text is plain English letters that only look like Hindi when the Kruti Dev 010 font is chosen. This page never downloads that font; if it is installed on your device, the Krutidev box uses it.
Your text and files are converted inside your browser and are never uploaded.
When you still need Krutidev
Unicode has replaced Kruti Dev for most Hindi writing, but the old font has not disappeared. Many offices, printing presses and court typists keep years of forms, registers and letter formats in Kruti Dev 010. Some DTP and design setups still expect Krutidev text, and some people simply prefer to finish a document in the font they have always used. When the new text you need (from a website, a WhatsApp message, an email or a Mangal document) is in Unicode, it has to be converted before it fits into those files.
Typing it again by hand is slow and invites mistakes. This page converts it instantly. Mangal is not a separate encoding: it is one of the fonts that show Unicode Hindi, so "Mangal to Kruti Dev" and "Unicode to Krutidev" are the same job.
Converting Unicode to Krutidev step by step
- The direction is already set to Unicode → Krutidev.
- Paste your Hindi. The Krutidev text appears in the right-hand box, with line breaks kept.
- Press Download Word file for a .docx already set in Kruti Dev 010, or Copy text and paste it into your own document. If you paste it, select the text and choose Kruti Dev 010 from the font list.
- For a full document, open the .docx. Only the Hindi text is changed, so English words, tables and headings are left alone.
Why Krutidev conversion needs care
Krutidev does not store letters in reading order. It stores the order in which a typist pressed the keys of a Remington-style typewriter. Three things change:
- The short i matra (ि) moves in front of its letter: किताब becomes
fdrkc, and in स्थिति it goes in front of the whole cluster:fLFkfr. - The reph moves after its letter and matras: धर्म becomes
/keZ, कीर्ति becomesdhfrZ. - Joined letters get their own glyphs where the font has them, such as क्र, द्ध, द्य and ट्र, so they print the way a typist would have typed them.
A simple find-and-replace gets these wrong. This converter handles them, and you can press ⇄ Swap to turn the result back into Unicode and compare it with your original.
Before you send a Krutidev file
- The person opening the file needs Kruti Dev 010 installed, or they will see English letters. If you are not sure, send a PDF made from your Word file instead.
- Krutidev cannot hold every Unicode character. Rare letters and symbols outside the Hindi typewriter set may not have a Kruti Dev glyph, so check names and special terms.
- For online forms, exam portals, websites and messages, keep the Unicode version. Government typing tests also use Unicode: the SSC CHSL 2026 notice, for example, says Hindi typists must use the Mangal font.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Mangal font to Kruti Dev?
Mangal is a Unicode font, so paste your Mangal text into the box on this page. The Krutidev version appears on the right. Copy it into MS Word and select the Kruti Dev 010 font, or use Download Word file, which sets the font for you.
Why does the Krutidev result look like English letters?
Kruti Dev text is stored as English letters and symbols, and it only looks like Hindi in the Kruti Dev 010 font. If the font is installed on your computer, this page uses it automatically; otherwise the letters are correct and turn into Hindi when you choose the font in Word.
Can I convert a Unicode Word file to Krutidev?
Yes. Open the .docx with the Open button. The Hindi text in the file is converted and its font is set to Kruti Dev 010, while English text, tables and formatting stay as they were. Download the converted file when it is ready.
Will Krutidev text work on websites and WhatsApp?
No. Krutidev only displays as Hindi where the Kruti Dev font is installed and selected, so on websites, phones and in messages it shows as random letters. Use Unicode for anything you share online, and Krutidev only for documents that must stay in that font.
Can I type Hindi first and then convert it?
Yes. Type in our Hindi typing tool with English letters or the Inscript keyboard, then press Convert to Krutidev there. The text opens here, already converted.
