Make your internship offers clear from day one
Students often need an internship offer letter for their college before they can start, and many apply to several places at once. A short, clear letter helps them decide quickly and tells their college what the internship involves. The format above opens with the internship offer selected, so you only need to fill in the details.
What goes into the letter
- Role and team: for example, Marketing Intern in the Growth team.
- Dates and duration: enter the start and end dates and the duration is worked out. 1 June to 28 June shows as 4 weeks; 1 December to 31 January shows as 2 months.
- Mode and location: on-site, remote or hybrid, with the office or city.
- Stipend: the amount per month in rupees, or leave it empty and the letter says the internship is unpaid.
- Mentor and project: optional, but students value knowing who they will learn from and what they will work on.
- Working hours.
- Confidentiality and policies: a single line asking the intern to keep company information private and follow your policies.
- Certificate: the letter says the intern will receive a certificate on successful completion.
- Accept-by date and acceptance block.
A quick example

Good practice for internships
- Agree the dates with the student's college calendar, especially for summer and winter internships.
- Be honest about the stipend. If it is unpaid, say so in the offer.
- Give the intern a named mentor and a real project; it makes the internship and the certificate more useful.
- Send the offer from an official email address, and keep a copy with the reference number.
When the internship ends, issue the completion certificate with the internship certificate generator, which works out the duration the same way. Everything here is made in your browser, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Frequently asked questions
What should an internship offer letter include?
The role, start and end dates, mode (on-site, remote or hybrid) and location, stipend or a clear note that it is unpaid, working hours, mentor or reporting person, the project if known, and the date by which the student should accept.
Can I issue an offer for an unpaid internship?
Leave the stipend empty and the letter says 'This is an unpaid internship', so there is no confusion later.
How is the duration shown?
It is worked out from the start and end dates, both days counted: spans under a month show as weeks or days, longer ones as months and days. You can type over it.
Do colleges need the offer letter?
Many colleges ask students to submit the internship offer before they start and the completion certificate when they finish. The certificate can be made with our internship certificate generator.
