A statement for exactly the dates you need

Bank statements are asked for all the time: a home or car loan, a visa application, a rental agreement, proof of income for a scholarship, or your own tax records. Often a downloaded statement from net banking is enough. But some lenders and offices want a statement printed and stamped by the branch, or a period older than the app shows. That is when a written request helps.

This page opens the Bank statement letter. Enter the account details, the period and how you want it.

What to fill in

FieldTip
Statement from / toExact dates. A financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
Purpose (optional)Such as "a home loan application" or "a visa application". It helps the branch format the statement.
I need itPrinted and stamped for lenders and embassies, or By email for your own records.
EmailAsked only for the email option.

The letter writes the dates in full: "I request you to issue the statement of my account for the period 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026, which I need for a home loan application. Kindly provide it as a printout with the branch stamp and signature."

Common periods people ask for

  • The last few months: for example the last 3 or 6 months, counted back from today.
  • A full financial year: 1 April to 31 March, handy for income proof and your own tax records.
  • A specific older period: for checking an old refund, a disputed entry or a property payment.

Lenders, landlords and embassies each set the period they want, so check the checklist you were given before you write the dates.

Interest and balance certificates

A statement shows every transaction. If you only need the interest earned in a year (for tax) or the balance on a date (for a visa or education loan), the Interest or balance certificate letter in the same group is shorter and gets you a one-page certificate.

For a firm's current account

Add the firm name to write "in the name of …" and sign as authorised signatory. Turn on the letterhead to print the request on the firm's letterhead with its logo, and add a stamp image if your business uses one.

Check before you submit

Read the dates in the preview once more: a "to" date earlier than the "from" date is an easy slip on a phone. Sign the letter as you sign at the bank, and carry your passbook or ID in case the branch asks.

Charges for printed or older statements vary by bank. The letter says you will pay any applicable charges. Nothing you type is uploaded, and MuftTools is not linked to any bank.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write a letter to the bank for a statement?

Give your account number, the exact period (for example 1 April 2026 to 30 September 2026), the purpose if you like, and whether you want a printed, stamped copy or an email. The tool writes this as a short request to the branch manager.

Why would I need a stamped bank statement?

Some lenders, embassies and offices ask for a statement signed and stamped by the branch instead of a downloaded PDF. Choose 'Printed and stamped' in the letter for these.

Is there a charge for a bank statement?

It depends on the bank and the period. Many banks give recent statements free through net banking, but may charge for printed or older statements. The letter says you will pay any applicable charges.

Can I also ask for an interest certificate?

Yes. Use the 'Interest or balance certificate' letter in the same group, for a financial year such as 2025-26.
