What goes into the Class 8 mix

Class 8 maths in the NCERT book Ganita Prakash (Part I and Part II) asks students to work with powers, letters and formulas far more than before. The mixed revision sheet on this page draws from five chapters:

  • Squares and cubes, Part I Ch 1 A Square and A Cube: squares of 2-digit numbers, square roots and cube roots of perfect powers, and checking whether a number is a perfect square.
  • Exponents and powers, Part I Ch 2 Power Play: laws of exponents and writing very large numbers in standard form, like 3.4 × 108.
  • Identities and multiplying expressions, Part I Ch 6 We Distribute, Yet Things Multiply: expanding brackets such as (x + 2)(x + 1) and squares of binomials.
  • Percentages, Part II Ch 1 Fractions in Disguise: discounts, increases and "what percent of" questions in rupees.
  • Area, Part II Ch 7 Area: labelled pictures of parallelograms and rhombuses, the area of a trapezium, and tiling a floor.

The other Class 8 chapters are not covered. For a whole sheet on one topic, choose it in the Chapter or topic menu. Ready pages exist for squares and cubes, exponents and powers and percentages.

How to use it in the weeks before an exam

  1. Class 8, Maths and Mixed revision are set on this page.
  2. Start with 15 questions on Medium to see which of the five topics are weak.
  3. Then make chapter sheets for the weak topics, and come back to the mix with 20 or 25 questions on Hard a few days before the exam.
  4. Choose Sets A, B and C if you are giving the same test to a whole section.
  5. Download the PDF. A student can keep the answer key page aside and check their own work once the time is up.

Mistakes worth watching for in Class 8

  • Dropping the middle term. Writing (x + 3)² as x² + 9 is the classic slip. Some true-or-false questions on the sheet show exactly this slip, so ask the student why it is false.
  • Squaring is not doubling. 32² is 1,024, not 64. Say "32 times 32" aloud to break the habit.
  • Standard form with the wrong power. When writing 34,00,00,000 as 3.4 × 108, count how many places the decimal point moves, not how many zeros there are.
  • Height of a parallelogram. Students often multiply the base by the slanting side. The height is the perpendicular distance, which the picture marks separately.
  • Stopping at the discount. A 5% discount on ₹800 is ₹40 off, so the price is ₹760. Some students stop at ₹40, so underline "price after the discount" when reading.

Short timed sheets help Class 8 students who know the method but run out of time in exams. Coming from Class 7? Use the Class 7 maths worksheet to refresh integers, fractions and equations first.

Frequently asked questions

Can my child solve the Class 8 square and cube root questions without a calculator?

Yes, that is the intention. The numbers are perfect squares and cubes, such as √441 or ∛1728, which children can work out by prime factorisation or by knowing squares up to about 50. Ask them to show the factor pairs in the margin.

Which algebraic identities are on the Class 8 sheet?

The sheet uses products like (x + 3)(x + 8) and squares like (x + 5)², from Part I Ch 6 We Distribute, Yet Things Multiply. Children expand them or match each expression with its expanded form, and some arithmetic shortcuts like 105 × 95 also appear.

How are percentages asked in Class 8?

Through everyday problems, matching Part II Ch 1 Fractions in Disguise. For example, a school bag priced in rupees with a given discount, where the child finds the price after the discount. For a full sheet, pick Percentages in the chapter menu.

Does the Class 8 sheet cover the Pythagoras theorem or quadrilaterals?

No. The mix covers squares and cubes, exponents and powers, identities, percentages and area. The Baudhayana-Pythagoras Theorem, Quadrilaterals, Proportional Reasoning and the other chapters are not part of the generator.
