Multi Touch Test: Count Your Screen's Touch Points

1Pick a test
Each test opens full screen. Scrolling is paused until you tap Done or press your phone's Back button.
Draw test and dead zones
Swipe your finger over every square. Squares that stay white even after you swipe over them are dead zones.
Multi-touch test
Put several fingers down at once. Each finger gets a numbered circle, and we count how many your screen can track together.
Ghost touch test
After a 5-second countdown, put the phone down and don't touch it. Any touch the screen reports by itself is logged with its time and place.
Edge test
Run your finger along all four edges and into the corners, where cracks and curved glass often stop touches.
Remove a thick case or loose screen protector and dry your hands first. Touches are read by your browser on this phone and are never sent anywhere.

What multi-touch means
A multi-touch screen can follow more than one finger at the same time. That is what makes pinch-to-zoom, two-finger rotate, fast typing with both thumbs and four-finger game controls possible. Every screen has a limit, and a damaged screen can lose track of fingers before it fails completely. This test shows the limit of your phone, tablet or touch-screen laptop and how steadily it tracks each finger.
How to run the multi-touch test
- Tap Start multi-touch test. The page fills the screen and stops scrolling.
- Put one finger down. A numbered circle appears under it, with guide lines across the screen.
- Keep it there and add fingers one at a time. Each new finger gets the next number and its own colour.
- Watch the counter at the top: Now is how many fingers are tracked at this moment and Most keeps the highest number.
- Move your fingers around slowly. Every circle should follow its own finger smoothly.
- Tap Done. The highest count is saved in the results on the right.
Use both hands for counts above five. Lay the phone on a table so you don't need a hand to hold it.
What a good result looks like
| What you see | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Count rises with every finger up to 5 or 10 | Normal multi-touch |
| Count stops at 2 | Basic multi-touch only; some older or budget devices work this way |
| A finger's circle disappears while the finger is still down | That area may be weak; run the draw test to check for a dead zone |
| Circles appear with no finger there | Possible ghost touch; run the ghost touch test |
| Two close fingers merge into one circle | Normal: spread them a little further apart |
Below the results the page also shows the number of touch points the browser says your device supports. That figure comes from the device itself, and the test lets you check whether the real screen matches it.
Multi-touch for gaming
Mobile shooters and racing games often use three, four or more fingers: one to move, one to look around, and others to fire, jump or crouch. If your game misses taps when you use many fingers, run this test with the same finger positions you use in the game. If the count drops when you press in certain areas, those spots may be weak. A thick or poorly fitted screen protector can also reduce touch sensitivity near the edges, so test with and without it.
If tracking looks wrong
- Clean the screen and dry your fingers. Water and oil confuse the sensor.
- Remove the screen protector and test again.
- Restart the phone, then retest.
- If the same area keeps dropping fingers, run the full touch screen test to map dead zones, and share the copied results with a service centre.
The touches are read by your browser on the device and never sent anywhere. Check the rest of the phone too: the ghost touch test catches touches the screen makes by itself, and the phone tests page lists every check.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check how many touch points my phone supports?
Start the multi-touch test and place fingers on the screen one by one without lifting the others. The Most counter shows the highest number tracked together. The page also shows the number of touch points the browser says the device supports.
How many touch points do phones support?
It depends on the model. Many phones, tablets and touch laptops track 10 fingers, while some older or budget models track fewer. Run the test to see your own device's real number.
Why do the circles jump or swap when fingers are close?
When two fingers touch or sit very close, the screen can read them as one. Spread your fingers apart. If circles jump while fingers stay still and apart, note it for a repair shop.
Does multi-touch matter for games?
Yes. Mobile shooter and battle games use several fingers at once for moving, aiming and firing. If the count drops below what your controls need, some taps will be missed.
