कमरा किराये के लिए खाली है: a Hindi poster in a minute

In most neighbourhoods, the people who read a room-for-rent poster on a pole or a gate are students, young workers who have just moved to the city, and families looking nearby. Many of them read Hindi faster than English, and a poster in their language feels more approachable. This page opens the To-Let poster maker with Hindi already chosen and a single room selected, so you only need to add the rent and your number.

Everything on the poster switches to Hindi: the heading reads "किराये के लिए खाली", the title becomes "कमरा किराये पर", and the labels read किराया, सिक्योरिटी, मंज़िल and संपर्क करें. The text is drawn with a proper Devanagari font, so half letters and matras come out right in the PDF and the image, not as boxes or broken shapes.

Wording that works for a room

A room poster needs fewer details than a flat, but a few make a big difference to the calls you get:

  • Who it is for: "केवल लड़कियों के लिए", "केवल लड़कों के लिए", "छात्रों के लिए" or "नौकरीपेशा लोगों के लिए". Choose one in "Only for" if you have a preference.
  • Single or sharing: pick single room, double sharing or triple sharing in the size list. For a PG, choose PG as the property type.
  • Rent per month, and the deposit: "₹ 5,500 / माह" answers the first question before anyone calls.
  • Three facilities at most: attached bathroom (अटैच्ड बाथरूम), separate entry (अलग प्रवेश) and 24-hour water (24 घंटे पानी) are already ticked. Swap them for meals (भोजन), Wi-Fi or AC if those matter more.
  • A landmark people know: "बस स्टैंड के पास" or "सरकारी स्कूल के सामने" is easier to follow than a house number.

Mixing Hindi and English

Names of colonies and roads are often clearer in English, and that's fine: type the address in either script. If your area has many students from other states, switch the language to English + हिंदी. The big TO-LET heading then catches everyone's eye, and the Hindi line under it still speaks to local readers. The poster keeps the numbers in regular digits (12,000, 98765 43210), which everyone reads easily.

Where to put it up

Room seekers walk past coaching centres, colleges, hospitals, bus stops and markets. One A4 poster at your gate and two or three near such spots usually do more than ten in quiet lanes. Ask before you stick a poster on someone else's wall or shop shutter, and use a clear sleeve outdoors so the number stays readable after rain. The tear-off strips at the bottom carry your number, so a passer-by can take it without a pen.

You can also download the poster as a WhatsApp image and send it to hostel groups, local job groups and your society group. Before you hand over the room, write down the rent, deposit and notice period in a simple agreement, and check whether your local police station asks for tenant verification.

Frequently asked questions

किराये के पोस्टर पर क्या लिखें?

Write what is for rent (कमरा, फ़्लैट or दुकान), the rent per month (किराया), who it is for if you have a preference, and your mobile number. Deposit, floor and two or three facilities help people decide before they call.

How do I write 'Room for rent' in Hindi?

Common wordings are 'कमरा किराये के लिए खाली है' and 'कमरा किराये पर'. This page uses 'किराये के लिए खाली' as the heading and 'कमरा किराये पर' as the title.

Will the Hindi text print correctly?

Yes. The poster is drawn with Noto Sans Devanagari and other Devanagari fonts, so conjuncts and matras appear correctly in the preview, the PDF and the PNG, even on computers without Hindi fonts.

Can I make a PG or girls' hostel poster here?

Yes. Choose PG as the property, pick single, double or triple sharing as the size and set 'Only for' to girls or boys. Add meals or Wi-Fi from the facilities if you offer them.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes. All four colour designs keep dark text on a light background for the details, so they stay readable on a black-and-white printer or photocopy.
