One-tap target size70–80% looks the same as the original for most photos.
The tool finds the highest quality that fits. Very small targets also reduce the pixel size.
PNG is lossless, so quality and target size do not apply. Use resize, or choose WebP for a much smaller file.

When you need an image under 100 KB
A 100 KB limit gives more room than the tight 20–50 KB limits on recruitment photos, which is why it is common for scanned documents and larger photos. Typical cases include certificates and mark sheets on admission portals, ID proofs on service forms, product photos for an online catalogue, and pictures sent where an attachment limit applies.
Several exam notices use 100 KB as the top of a range. The 2026 notices for CTET (photo, 10–100 KB) and India Post GDS (photo, 30–100 KB), and the declaration upload on bank forms such as IBPS PO (50–100 KB), are examples. Those forms also set pixel sizes, so use the exam photo and signature resizer for them. This page is for the simpler rule "file size should not exceed 100 KB".
Steps
- Add your images. The target is preset to 100 KB. Drop in up to 20 photos or scans together.
- Read the size line. Each image shows its size before and after. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits, so results usually sit just under 100 KB.
- For scans, check the text. Zoom into the preview. If small print looks smudged, set a maximum width of 1200 to 1600 pixels; text needs sharp pixels more than it needs many of them.
- Download one by one, or press Download all (ZIP).
Photos versus documents at 100 KB
| Image | What helps it fit |
|---|---|
| Portrait photo | A width of about 600 to 800 pixels usually fits at good quality. In our tests with phone portraits, busy outdoor backgrounds needed the lower end of that range. |
| Scanned page or certificate | Scan or photograph in good, even light so the paper is white rather than grey. A clean white background compresses far better than a shadowy one. |
| Screenshot or graphic | Choose JPG for photos inside the screenshot; for flat colours and text, WebP often stays clearer at the same size, if the site accepts WebP. |
Common questions people run into
"The form still says the file is too big." This tool counts 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, so 100 KB here is 102,400 bytes. A portal that counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes would see a 99 KB file as just over its limit. If a file is rejected, type 95 in the target size box to leave a margin and try again.
"I need several pages in one file." Compress each page image here, then combine them with the JPG to PDF tool. Check the final PDF size, because the PDF adds a little on top of the images.
"I need an exact size in cm or pixels too." Use the photo resizer, which sets pixels, cm or inches and a KB range in one go.
Your files never leave your device. There is no upload, no account and no watermark.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a photo to under 100 KB?
Add the photo here; the target is already set to 100 KB. The tool tries quality levels until it finds the highest one that keeps the file at or under 100 KB, then shows the new size next to the old one. Download the file or, for several photos, the ZIP.
Can I compress a scanned document or certificate to 100 KB?
Yes, if it is an image such as a JPG or PNG scan or a phone photo of the page. Keep the text readable: if 100 KB makes it blurry, set a maximum width of about 1200 to 1600 pixels and try again, and zoom in on the result before you upload it.
What if my file is already smaller than 100 KB?
It already meets the limit. In target size mode the tool never makes a file bigger than it was, so you get a fresh copy at or below the original size, without the hidden photo details. If a form also asks for a minimum size, use the photo resizer on this site with a KB range.
Should I choose JPG or WebP for 100 KB?
Choose JPG for government, exam and job forms, because many accept only JPG. WebP usually gives a smaller file at the same quality, so it suits your own website, but check that the place you upload to accepts it.
Does compressing remove the location from my photo?
Yes. Phone photos can carry hidden details such as the date, camera model and GPS location. The tool makes a new file from the pixels only, so those details are not copied into the compressed image.
