A griha pravesh card that says it properly
Moving into a new home is one of the few occasions when families still invite almost everyone: relatives, neighbours, colleagues and old friends. The griha pravesh card usually goes out on WhatsApp a week or two before the puja, and a few printed copies go to elders. This page opens with a card made for it: a marigold toran across the top, a kalash with mango leaves and diyas at the bottom, and ready Hindi wording you can use as it is or change.
The ready wording
The Hindi card starts with ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, then the heading गृह प्रवेश and the line शुभ आमंत्रण. It closes with निवेदक and the family's name. Change the top line to ॐ, Jai Jinendra or none with one tap, and edit any word.
Prefer English for some guests? Tap English: the heading becomes Griha Pravesh, the subtitle Housewarming ceremony, and the message becomes a plain English invitation. Make one card in each language if your guest list is mixed. Many families fix the puja time with their pandit first; fill in the card only once the date and time are final, so you do not have to send a correction.
Date, time and the new address
- Date: pick it from the calendar and the card writes the weekday for you, for example "रविवार, 1 नवंबर 2026". No more mismatched day and date.
- Time: the puja time is written the Hindi way, such as "सुबह 9 बजे". Put the meal in the programme line: "प्रीतिभोज: दोपहर 1 बजे से".
- Address: write the house number, society or colony, and a landmark. New addresses are hard to find, so add the Google Maps link too; the card turns it into a QR that guests can scan.
Designs that suit a housewarming
The Toran & kalash design is the default here, in maroon and gold. The Royal arch frame looks good for a larger gathering, Rangoli border for a bright, cheerful card, and Diyas for an evening puja. All designs are drawn as shapes, not photos, and there are no images of deities, so the card can be forwarded freely and printed at any size without blurring.
Send it, then print a few
Tap "Image for WhatsApp" for a 1080 × 1528 px JPG, or "Animated GIF" for a version with marigold petals drifting down. For elders, download the A5 PDF or an A4 sheet with two cards and cut lines, and print on card paper at Actual size.
Your names, address and photo stay on your device; nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark.

Frequently asked questions
What should I write on a griha pravesh invitation?
The occasion (गृह प्रवेश), a short invitation such as 'आप सपरिवार सादर आमंत्रित हैं', the date and time of the puja, the new address with a landmark, and the family's name after 'निवेदक'. Add the lunch or dinner time in the programme line if you are serving a meal.
Can I make the griha pravesh card in English?
Yes. Tap English and the wording switches to an English version (Griha Pravesh, Housewarming ceremony). Your names, date and address stay as you typed them.
How do guests find my new house?
Paste your Google Maps link in the location box and the card shows a QR code. Guests scan it to open the exact location, which helps when the house is new and not yet known to cab drivers.
Which design suits a griha pravesh card?
The Toran & kalash design is made for it: a marigold toran at the top and a kalash with mango leaves and two diyas at the bottom. The Royal arch, Rangoli and Diyas designs also suit a housewarming.
Can I print the card as well?
Yes. Download an A5 or A6 PDF, or an A4 sheet with two or four cards and cut lines, and print at Actual size on card paper.
