A fresher resume that is mostly about what you can do
When you have just finished your degree, diploma or ITI, the hardest part of a resume is the empty "experience" section. The answer is to not leave a gap at all: put your education, skills, training and projects up front, and keep the page short and tidy. This page opens the resume maker in fresher mode with a clean, modern layout and the title "Resume", so you can start filling straight away.
Order of sections for a fresher
- Name, post and contact: your name, the role you are applying for, a mobile number and a professional email address.
- Objective: two lines on the role you want and what you bring. "To begin my career as an accounts assistant where I can use Tally, GST and Excel skills" says more than a general sentence.
- Education: degree or diploma first, then Class 12 and Class 10, with the board or university, year and marks.
- Skills: specific, checkable skills. Software and tools, typing speed, languages, machines, a driving licence.
- Training, certificates and projects: internships, final-year projects, short courses, NCC or NSS, competitions. One per line.
- Languages and hobbies: keep them short.
- Declaration with place and date, if the employer expects one.
Biodata or resume?
Both are one-page summaries, and this tool makes either. A resume for private companies leads with skills and leaves out details like religion or marital status. A biodata, which many government, PSU and traditional employers still ask for, adds personal details such as father's name and date of birth, plus a signed declaration. Fill in only what you need: any empty field is left out, so the same form works for both. Change the title chip to "Biodata" whenever an employer asks for one.
Picking a design
Minimal, which this page starts with, uses a large name, thin lines and plenty of white space, and suits most private-sector roles. Sidebar puts your photo, skills and languages in a coloured column, which works well when you have many skills to list. Colour band and Two-tone add a bit of colour for creative or customer-facing roles. A photo is optional for private jobs; switch off "Empty box to paste a photo" if you don't want one.
Skills that help a fresher
Recruiters look for skills they can check quickly: typing speed in words per minute, Tally or Excel, a programming language, spoken English or a regional language, a two-wheeler or LMV licence. List them plainly, one per line, rather than adjectives like "hard-working".
Before you send it
- Read every date and percentage against your marksheets.
- Save the PDF with your name in the file, which the tool does for you, and upload the PDF unless the portal asks for Word.
- Send the JPG only when someone asks on WhatsApp; recruiters prefer PDFs.

Frequently asked questions
What should a fresher put in a resume with no experience?
Lead with education, then skills, training and certificates, internships or projects, and achievements in college or school. A short objective that names the role you want helps the recruiter place you.
Should a fresher resume be one page?
Yes. With no work history, one page is enough and easier for recruiters to read. The tool shrinks the text size to keep everything on one A4 page and tells you if it cannot.
Where do I add projects or internships?
Add internships as jobs under Work experience (untick 'I am a fresher'), or list projects and internships under Training and certificates, one per line.
Do I need personal details like father's name on a resume?
For most private companies, no; leave those fields empty and they are skipped. For government jobs and some traditional employers, a biodata with personal details is still expected.
